AMMZ’s direction for the next two years: purpose, priorities, programmes and targets.

The AMMZ Strategic Plan 2026–2027 sets the Association’s direction for the next two years. This summary gives members, partners and the wider mining community an overview of its purpose, priorities, programmes and targets. The plan was developed at the AMMZ Council Strategic Workshop held in Harare on 24–25 April 2026, with members of the Association and the Chamber of Mines Secretariat.
Founded in 1972 and affiliated to the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe (CoMZ), AMMZ helped embed zero harm, sustainable practice and emergency preparedness across Zimbabwe’s mining industry. The industry has since changed: new technologies, new investors, the drive for sustainability and the growth of small-scale mining have reshaped the sector.
The workshop reviewed AMMZ’s role in this changed industry and identified its priorities: a clearer value proposition for members, better communication, stronger visibility, close alignment with the Chamber, and programmes that equip mine managers for today’s realities, including ESG, artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), crisis management and labour law.
Within the industry, the Chamber of Mines leads on policy and engagement with Government, while AMMZ focuses on safety, endurance, value creation, profitability and serving as the face of the industry within the community.
