Abel Makura Mining Executive | Mining Engineer | Innovation & Business Improvement Leader Abel Makura is a mining executive with over 15 years of underground mechanised mining experience in the platinum sector. He currently serves as Business Improvement Manager at Anglo American Platinum’s Unki Mine (now Valterra Platinum), where he leads operational excellence, business improvement and mining innovation initiatives. He holds both a BSc (Hons) and an MSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe. A former President of the Association of Mine Managers of Zimbabwe (AMMZ), Abel is a passionate advocate for digital transformation, innovation and sustainable mining. He is committed to advancing mining leadership, operational excellence and the adoption of technologies that enhance safety, productivity and the long-term competitiveness of Zimbabwe’s mining industry.
